Dallas resident Dr. Izzy Lieberman travels each year to Uganda for a medical mission. The Orthodox Jewish community in Uganda, Putti, is comprised of about 200 individuals, of which half are under 13 years of age. The Putti people have a deep desire to practice Judaism and be recognized as an Orthodox community. The Putti speak English, Lugandan, and Hebrew. Dr. Lieberman visited the Putti community and they only have a ~12 paper Sefer Torah in their Aron Kodesh, of which they are extremely proud. The mission of the Uganda Torah Project is to purchase and deliver a real, Kosher Sefer Torah to this inspiring Jewish community in remote Africa.   Ugandan community during services in the synagogue
